TEMPORARY BOOKSHOP RELOCATION AND REDUCED OPENING HOURS 

Hey everyone - We hope all is well! We have a bit of news…

We are temporarily moving the bookshop a few doors along the street! 

Due to the need for fire safety improvement building works at the Gay’s the Word (66, Marchmont Street) we have to temporarily move the bookshop a few doors down the street to 58-60 Marchmont Street, where we expect to be for between 6 to 12 weeks while the works take place. After this we’ll be moving right back to a newly improved Gay’s the Word. 

We are calling this the “Gay’s the Word Pivot and Pop-up”. After a period of necessary closure in June and early July we're delighted that we’ll be able to continue to stay open in a new space and that our community groups can still meet over the Summer while these building works take place.

While there will be some disruption for a little while, it is really important to us that the building we occupy is as fire-safe as possible - especially for our neighbours living in the residential flats above us. 

The plan is to be open again in our new space at 58-60 Marchmont Street in time for Pride in London. We will confirm our re-opening date at our new location in due course. 

It is going to be pretty intense for the team here to relocate our entire contents and operations, but we’re actually really excited about the possibilities this move will generate. The new space we’ll be in is much larger so it will be great for us to have a bit of extra room for a while. We are not calling for volunteers to help with the move at this stage, but we’ll be sure to let you know if that changes. 

We will keep you up-to-date with our relocation progress as we go! 

You will still be able to order books via our website during this time but, if possible, please order these to be sent to you as opposed to collecting from the bookshop. If you have already ordered books and arranged for them to be collected from the bookshop, send us an email and we can coordinate on when you’ll pick them up!

Please note that the Lesbian Discussion Group and the London Ace Book Group will NOT meet during the last two weeks of June!
