The London Dyke Deck by Ellen Kydd
Ellen Kydd’s London Dyke Deck has landed at Gay’s The Word!
Featuring sixty self-identified dykes (many of whom are authors of books we stock!) the deck is a spiritual successor to Catherine Opie’s 1995 San Francisco Dyke Deck. Opie herself can be found in the London deck, but you’ll have to pick one up to find her.
This first edition of the Dyke Deck comes with a postcard, the essay ‘A Game of Flats’ by Eleanor Cox, and the ‘Terms and Conditions’, where each participant was asked to expand on what the terms Butch, Femme, Trans and Non-binary mean to them. It is a beautiful piece of work.
The Dyke Deck is partnering with GAYSIANS and will donate a percentage of each sale towards their efforts to support LGBTQ+ South Asians in the UK and across the world.
